Why I Need at Least Two Weeks Between the Interview and the Photoshoot

Hello there! I’m so excited you’re considering a photo session for your child. I want to let you in on a little secret: creating truly meaningful images doesn’t just happen on the day of the shoot. It all begins the moment we chat about who your child is and what makes them smile. Then, I take a couple of weeks to prepare every detail so we can capture their sweet personality in the most genuine way.

Getting to Know Your Child

When we talk during our initial interview—whether in person or via video call—I’ll ask all kinds of questions about favorite colors, hobbies, funny quirks, or that one outfit they never want to take off. By learning what lights them up (dinosaurs, painting, sports, ballet, you name it!), I can plan a session that truly reflects who they are.

I’m a firm believer that real connection leads to photos that feel personal. This discovery phase isn’t something I like to rush because it sets the stage for everything else that follows.

Brainstorming and Conceptualization

After our chat, I’ll spend time brainstorming and sketching out ideas that fit your child’s interests. That might mean painting a special backdrop, sewing a one-of-a-kind prop, or carefully coordinating color palettes. This is also the moment when creative sparks can fly—I sometimes stumble on a new prop or think of a fresh idea that’s too perfect to ignore.

Quality Over Quantity:

  • Taking my time means no rushed, subpar props or mismatched backdrops.
  • If your child loves dinosaurs, we might go all-in with a prehistoric theme. If they adore ballet, picture a whimsical studio setup.

Gathering and Crafting Props

Once I have a clear vision, I get to work sourcing or creating everything we need. Painting, sewing, scouring vintage shops—you name it, I’ll do it! This part is one of my favorites because it’s where imagination turns into something tangible.

But all this takes time. Waiting on shipping, double-checking quality, and sometimes getting those perfect finishing touches just right are all reasons I need at least a couple of weeks.

Making Room for Tweaks

Ideas can evolve as the plan comes together. Maybe I spot a new piece that fits better than what I originally had in mind, or I realize a different lighting setup will show off your child’s interests more clearly. Having two weeks allows for these last-minute tweaks without any panic.

If I need your feedback, I’ll reach out, and we’ll finalize things together. This is a team effort, after all!

Creating a Relaxed Experience

By the time your session day arrives, everything is organized, crafted, and ready to go—no frantic, last-minute changes. A relaxed grown-up is a relaxed child. Kids pick up on vibes so easily, and if we’re all calm and prepared, it frees them up to just have fun and be themselves.

Building Excitement

I love sharing little hints about what we’ve planned so your child can start looking forward to their big day. Whether it’s imagining flowers everywhere, feeling like a superhero for an action-themed shoot, or dreaming about a space adventure, that anticipation often leads to bright smiles and genuine laughter in front of the camera.

The Final Outcome

When you give me at least two weeks between our interview and the photoshoot, it’s not about delaying—I promise it’s all about magic-making! This extra time ensures I can create a session that truly celebrates your child’s unique spark. The result? Photos that capture real personalities and tell a story you’ll cherish for years to come.
